GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director of Category Strategy – Culture & Lifestyle is responsible for the overall product strategy to stretch the cultural relevancy of the brand. A strategic thinker well versed in culture / sub-culture trends that can elevate the Oakley brand.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Introduce disruptive design products by partnering with internal and external creative catalysts

  • Develop creative and inspirational briefs with Product Manager to bring forward culture designs to the Oakley product portfolio

  • Develop a color, material, finish strategy to engage and attract cultural tastemakers

  • Identify culturally relevant and brand defining opportunities

  • Develop new products by collaborating cross functionally with Brand Marketing, User Insights, and your connected network

  • Manage your creative network to bring disruptive ideas & partnerships to the Oakley brand

  • Develop in partnership with Brand team to bring a dynamic go to market strategy through timing and deployment

  • Protect the brand health by determining the lifecycle of the partnerships and the correlating products launched to the market

  • Communicate product stories to cross functional and global teams

  • Identify opportunities from big ideas and drive global alignment for brand growth and effectiveness

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to drive alignment of the strategy

  • Manage lifestyle category for market optimization of product lifecycle

  • Drives business profitability through the creation, growth and improvement of the culture and lifestyle product portfolio

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Progressive thinker with experience in translating cultural to product.

  • 10+ years of experience in consumer product/category strategic roles

  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to drive a product line through a strong growth stage

  • Able to develop an effective team of product managers

  • Strong leadership skills to be able to create cross-functional partnerships

  • Thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape and the key industry dynamics

  • Effective communicator and presenter with strong leadership skills and experience communicating complex information to multiple individuals/audiences

  • Able to succeed in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial perspective on business

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and a passion for data-driven decisions

  • Intimate understanding of action outdoor consumer market

  • MBA

​Pay Range: 144,712.17 - 206,072.72

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
